The average gestation period for a whitetail is 210 days. Fawning season usually starts early May and will run through July though we've had fawns born late August. The fawns are checked and tagged at birth and left with their Mothers to nurture, feed and imprint.

If we are going to be bottle raising a particular fawn, on the third day of life the fawn is pulled from the woods and brought into the house where we start the bottle raising process. Northern Whitetail Scents is one of the few white-tailed deer farms to bottle raise their fawns for the entire summer into early fall for a calmer, friendlier and easier to handle whitetail.

White-tailed fawns whether it be brown, piebald or white are cute, curious, nervous, and always alert and wonderfully amusing.

Photo's of a birth.
